Conceptual Background

Hoggle in Limbo is a 7-second silent digital micro-animation created as a tribute submission for Jim Henson's Birthday Celebration at the Museum of the Moving Image, commemorating the 40th anniversary of Labyrinth while exploring the lesser-known minimalist puppet Limbo.

Artwork Synopsis

A minimalist vector study unfolds against a deep black canvas. Individual geometric shapes representing the defining facial features of Hoggle drop into the scene one by one with precise timing delays. Rendered entirely in the distinct color palette associated with the Limbo puppet, the assembling shapes coalesce into a subtle, non-verbal portrait that merges the beloved goblin character study with structural minimalism.
