COOKIE MONSTER'S HALLOWEEN

Digital Animation  |  00:07  |  Silent  |  2026

Conceptual Background

Created as a tribute submission for Jim Henson's Birthday Celebration at the Museum of the Moving Image, this micro-animation explores minimalist vector choreography and timing through a seven-second visual format. The multiple figures draw inspiration from the real-world phenomenon of encountering more than one costumed Cookie Monster in Times Square, New York, capturing that funny yet culturally confusing sight through geometric repetition. For the final sequence, the visual shifts to a character inspired by the Sesame Street: The Cookie Monster Nosh (Monster Mash Parody) video, where Cookie Monster is dressed as Frankenstein. The core creative challenge involved rendering organic textures, specifically matching the look of the black wig and the Frankenstein costume's forehead stitches, strictly through layered vector composition rather than traditional drawing. The Frankenstein look was constructed as a single grouped asset on the slide canvas and timed to appear simultaneously with the lightning flash.

Artwork Synopsis

A seven-second silent digital animation (00:07, 1920x1080) structured around rapid spatial transformation and comedic timing. Three vertical blue rectangles slide into a black frame, shifting through a sliding-door transition into distinct representations of costumed performers. An orange jack-o-lantern crashes onto the central figure with an anvil effect, prompting the flanking figures to exit quickly in opposite directions as the central body vanishes. The piece resolves with a three-second atmospheric conclusion featuring flashing lightning against dark clouds and a final, detailed vector apparition of Cookie Monster dressed as Frankenstein.
