Conceptual Background
A Peace of God marks a foundational shift in the artist’s practice, emerging from the structural and physical constraints of the 2021 global pandemic. When traditional documentary production became untenable, the artist pivoted to digital abstraction, establishing a lifelong investigation into the rhythmic choreography of shapes and symbols. Rather than a compromise, these technical limitations became the catalyst for a highly disciplined methodology rooted in digital simplicity and time-based composition. The work stands as a testament to creative resilience and the genesis of a rigorous visual vocabulary.
Artwork Synopsis
The film functions as a minimalist, non-verbal narrative translating the psychological transition from ambient chaos to internal stillness. Utilizing precise geometric choreography, the visual arrangements are mathematically synchronized to a curated soundscape that evolves from dense, rhythmic tension into expansive melodic strings. Captured and constructed entirely on an iPhone, the piece eventually transitions from pure digital abstraction to incorporate localized nature photography. These captured landscapes document solitary excursions, grounding the mathematical digital framework within the restorative physics of the natural world.
